Thread: The Virtual Pub

    Talking The Virtual Pub

So, if we were hanging out at the local pub, chatting and laughing, going off topic and into tangents....I'd want a three top (table) in the corner, where we'd be analyzing The Game of Life (updated version).

KISS vs complexity. One of you young whippersnappers would invariably pronounce that complexity is the wave of the future. Ride the wave or drown. Whether it's science and technology, education, medical care, investment and retirement strategies, global interdependence or foreign policy, or taxes: move toward complex schemes, with experts in charge, and delegate the simple stuff to "other people". There is no other way.

Then we'd be arguing over the music, about other ways. Slow and local things, self-reliance or small-system-dependency (is that delusional like LOLbertarianism?), old fashioned things, simpler things. Names for that are luddite, passe, romantic, stupid. Crazy.

Back yard tomatoes, deposit savings, living within means, less Digi Man and more flower child, walking more and running less on the tread mill, or distractions meant for gerbils with big brains. Pay no attention to the barmaid with fake boobs, look away from the plasma satellite tv showing the soccer game on the other side of the world.

But listen to your inner instincts. Yeah, on the internet, let's talk about the pendulum and how it swings. Like we're in a darkened pub, but it's really the light from the computer screen.

I've got rum and it's cocktail time somewhere in this crazy world! What've you got? Are you going for more complexity or searching for simple?

Bitter! My ex has a plaster of that Michelangelo, in verdis green.

edit oops my spider web got interrputed. Adding: good song, cool video (images without permission lol)

Cowboy gun slingers in a song. Next up "where did all the cowboys go". Women in burkas? Listen to your mama? Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys?

ps I collect antique clocks with broken pendulums. Really.

...Cowboys are frequently secretly fond of each other.

....with broken backs? Or is that broken bucks?

Should it really take breaking things to make things work?

My heart was wrapped up in clover? At last, my love has come along. But my lonely days are not over and life is not like a song.

I found a dream that I could speak to but it's not my own.

And here we are, but it's not heaven. Got any Eartha Kitt for a follow-up?

I was questioning your conclusion that it was a theory. Not that I said it

You asked a question based on ONE word? Maybe you need to click on Bitter's link to a song and ask again. Yeah, it's OLD.

Still at the pub. Wondering who the fuck a certain person is on this forum.

This one is for Bitter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vonJhz2COck

Also, I think I found what I was looking for about the movie You Don't Know Jack.

No one else likes the pub? Fuck you.

    Confutatis maledictis,
    flammis acribus addictis,
    voca me cum benedictus.

Yes, moving from Bach to Mozart.

Anyone else like the Lacrimosa? Do I need to post a fucking youtube?

It's not a pub if there's no intoxication and/or chance of casual sex. I think that's the problem here.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that if you want this thing to succeed, someone's gonna have to get topless and start doing tequila shots. I'd volunteer, but I really don't like tequila.

Virtual pub, you ass. You could "do" virtual casual sex while you're here, in the background. I'm intoxicated at the moment. For real. But I'm using another window to listen to music and it's fucking me right up. Jolly good show.

    Simply Excellent.

Ever notice how contemporary music, with its digital "enhancements" has yet to meet or exceed these long haired geniuses, who wrote such great music that it lives generations later, even if they were buried in pauper's graves?

    Do You Have It?

The madness of the man, splitting in half.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOw1NLizCZA (hope this is the right link to Don Giovanni)

    Luke, I AM your father!

Sure, it takes Mozart v Salieri to a dramatic level. But I love the music, and how the movie made it real for millions, hundreds of years later. I wonder if any hip hop artist will say the same after we're all dead, and even Lucas is in archives.

And in the pub I can rant and cry and all that, and none of you can call me crazy.

Kinda makes Elvis or the Beatles look tiny, since they at least had television to feed their populism.

Of course, they started a cultural "revolution" that started with music. Not saying music of the 20th or 21st centuries won't be famous in history. But when I put it into context, history plus genius, the long hairs who didn't have fancy techno digital duplication, let alone "music theory"....they always come out ahead.

In the pub, I sort of expected someone to challenge me, at least about music. No deconstructionists here? pity, that

Man, that kid may hurt when he hits puberty---holy crap though what a voice. Someone here with skillz should dupe the professional opera with him. Talk about a magic fucking flute.

I like to listen to all three of those. They are all amazing. Try to sing it yourself, it's impossible. (Hell, I have to change octaves singing the national anthem) Then remember this was all composed by one guy, Mozart, hundreds of years ago. He never had a "play that back" option. He never had a recording studio. IT WAS ALL IN HIS HEAD. Then he hoped to find some "talent" that made it sound right. Plus sponsors. Quite a feat before planes trains and automobiles, let alone electricity. Dontchathink?

Am I talking to myself here?

Something from magic flute reminded me of The Music Man (the soprano that was like a mother hen cackling) but I can't remember the song. Does this spur anyone's memory?

I know there is a song in there that's a cackling. Somewhere.

Great score, great movie. Sen sen. Is there a nicotine on his index finger? Are certain words creeping into his conversation?

    ha, Plymouth Rock and trouble.

Surely you guys know who THIS is?

FFS you guys don't like Mozart......or Shirley Jones, Buddy Hackett OR Ron Howard?

How about I post some great stuff from Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire? Do you want music, dancing, singing, swimming?

    Esther William?

I am the ONLY one here. Wow. Never had my name as the only one of a forum before. Couple of guests are lurking. Esther is swimming, music is playing, and I'm drinking. Was trying to find images of her underwater but maybe I'm too drunk. I do know some resorts have underwater tanks, by bars, so people can watch (women) swimming. Been there, done that. (Bahamas are big on that type of entertainment, women swimming with sharks, dolphins and turtles, watching thru glass). Most people think they hold their breath but there's a spigot attached to oxygen on the side lines, away from the window view.

    Anyhoo.

THIS is the real thing. Do you have any idea how difficult the basics are?

This one is for Bitter. For photographic and jewelry ideas. Use of shadow and light, it reminded me of the things you create.

Most of it looks pornographic but it's really not. Some beautiful things in backs, shoulders, arms, skin.

Bitter, you've shared works better than these. Waiting for your accolades.
