Default How to replace a cracked laptop digitiser screen

My wife's touchscreen laptop screen cracked while in cargo when we flew back to the UK about six months ago. It still works but has multiple cracks and a "spiders web" effect on it. I thought I'd try and replace it myself and after watching a few YouTube videos and Googling the model of the Laptop (a HP "HPK 15-P183NA") I opened the Laptop and took from the back of the screen the exact model number of the screens part to get a replacement.

Tonight I have gone to remove the old screen as the new one has arrived only to realise the "screen" part is not broken, it is a plastic-feeling covering in front of the screen that is cracked. I believe this is called a digitiser.

I don't know where to go from here. I don't see any easy way to remove the digitiser, it seems to be built into the Laptop case. Should I admit defeat take it in for repairs with someone who knows what they're doing or is this something I could fix?

Well, according to this: https://www.laptopscreen.com/English...ION~15-P183NA/ you can buy the digitizer separately.

Also, the procedure should be similar to this: https://youtu.be/oHmHbUzUOtI?t=5m6s
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Considering your time is also valuable, you might want to ask yourself if this is something you actually want to learn though. Either way: good luck!

Seems ridiculously expensive to get the part I need. Found one replacement for £178+VAT. The whole Laptop only cost £300+VAT two years ago. http://uk.eetgroup.com/i/764622-001-HP-Inc.-LCD-Unit
