Thread: If a lion dies a horrible painful death and man didn't do it...

Default If a lion dies a horrible painful death and man didn't do it...

    Nobody cares.

Everyday thousands if not millions of animals die horrible deaths in the wild. Succumb from disease/old age, die of starvation, die of thirst, killed by a predator, get eaten alive by bugs while they are still aware, ect. But suddenly a hunter does it (not excusing him if he knowingly broke the law FYI) and its the worst thing ever. 10,000 lions dying this way isn't equal to a SINGLE human dying because some thug wanted to get money to get high. But how much outrage does an inner city shooting get compared to one freaking lion? Perspective people - get some.

    Sigh.

Lewk, the mascot of a nation, beloved internationaly, and a major tourist attraction was butcherd by a so called special human for the FUN of it.

    Not another predator.

    Not by starvation.

But by a twat with a crossbow...and potentially illegally. That's the uproar.

And I'll call you out on your BS...was this lion worth more in the grand scheme of things compared to a thief? A pedophile?

Just using your own logic here.

If hindsight is 20-20, why is it so often ignored?

A crime was committed. The criminal should be killed as an example to all other would-be criminals.

I'm pretty certain thousands of bugs aren't being eaten by carrion and bugs while slowly dying. YMMV though.

Well it was illegal the question is if the guy who did it thought it was illegal. Jury still out.

But you're missing the point here. There is a lot of outrage and sadness over and ANIMAL. Not human life, but an animal. Even the folks from that country are a little puzzled by the West's crazy reaction over this.

Well, yes, it's a (social)media hype, you are right about that. But while just an animal, it is an endangered animal, while humans are not endangered (on the contrary), so arguably taking a human life has less impact on the world. But you are right, people go a bit over the top crazy, AND focus only on the person who did it in this instance, but hey, people love animals, especially endangered ones, and especially good looking ones (if he had killed some endangered but ugly fish or something, I doubt many people would go crazy online). And it helps that the animal has a name, too.

In general the African big game has a soft spot in most people's hearts, remember last world cup? There was this Belgian girl who looked hot in the crowds, and got a modeling contract (example of social media hype going positive for her), followed by backlash against her because she had hunting photos online too (example of social media hype going against her).

You get outraged and sad over an OBJECT. Not human life, but an object. Even the folks from your country are a little puzzled by your crazy reaction over thefts.

You actually quite right in the analysis of what's happening here. A bunch of social media hype and 1st world folks getting all riled up for something that really doesn't matter. I swear people wouldn't even blink an eye if they heard the # of infant deaths in Africa but are foaming at the mouth about some lion.

Are you seriously using that argument? "I didn't know it was illegal" is not a defense. At best, it's something you can argue during sentencing.

Says the person who thinks the punishment for stealing toothpaste should be death, but the poaching of an engendered animal should carry no serious sentence. I think Fuzzy is right. A crime is serious only if it's committed by a non-middle-class-white.

My statement had nothing to do with the laws of Zimbawe or if we have an extradition treaty or not. The jury is still out if the guy knew he was doing something illegal or not. And no not a legal jury its an expression. Sheesh.

I haven't made a single statement about his punishment should or shouldn't be. Merely pointing out the hypocrisy of idiots up and arms about an animal halfway across the world that has no impact on their life. And to clarify active defense is what I'm primarily in favor of. So to put it into context if someone breaks into your property and tries to damage or take your property (like your dog) I'm all in favor of the property owner being able to shoot the intruder. And if someone owned the lion and they saw poachers they should be able to shoot too.

And screw you. I've posted on this very board about scum like Roman Polanski who is white and wealthy.

For all of those people mad...

    Awwww yeah.

"The hunt where Bachman killed the lion was conducted on the land of the Maroi Conservancy. The conservancy is based in the Limpopo province in South Africa and their motto is "conservation through sustainable hunting.""

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/...gered-big-five

"In one post she writes: "I'm here to tell you, I'm NEVER going to stop. I'm proud to hunt, proud to cheer, proud to wear makeup, and especially PROUD TO BE ME!"

The Texan claims to have made her first kill using a .416 Remington rifle and boasted about how she managed to take down a charging Cape buffalo, and a large maned lion in one trip only to return two weeks later to add a leopard and hippo to her list of trophy kills."

    Get mad liberals.

Yup, both daughter and dad look psycho. Dunno why she's so proud to be her, but I guess fools are the last to find out they're fools killing a white rhino is just fucked up. What a waste.

Mind you, just because it's a social media hype doesn't mean it's wrong*. I also think killing endangered animals for fun is wrong, and if you do it, don't complain that people get pissed off about it.

*Remember the Kony hype? I think it's safe to say that no matter what you thought about that campaign, Kony's a bad guy.

Er, didn't the lion belong to the national park? Technically, he *was* property.

But its not inanimate. Only inanimate property can be stolen which should have people killed over. If live property is killed then its hilarious and only liberulz find it objectionable.

As always, it's about Lewk's self-centered prejudices and bigotry. If he can relate to either the victimization (like in theft) or to the accused, (like here or with middle and upper class men attending college) than it matters and people should fry. If it doesn't, then it's a plot to bring down right-minded principles.

Agreed entirely. He mocks up that he's standing on principles, or ideology but in reality its just egotism. This has nothing to do with liberals or conservatives or principle of any kind.

He's not the first libertarian that claims he is pro freedom, but actually it's just opportunism. Freedom is good as long as it's things I like.

There is nothing the least bit libertarian in his attitudes toward various crimes or alleged crimes.

Government is a necessary evil. Key word evil. The primary purpose of government - the very reason we want it to exist - is to keep people safe from internal and external thoughts. Not to change people's opinions. Not to redistribute wealth. Not to push certain agendas. To keep people safe from criminals, terrorists and invaders.

I think I should clear up where I value life.

Human law abiding citizens --> Property --> Unimportant animal life (you kill an owned pet that is worse than killing a stray. Why? Because its value increased once it became property --> Pond Scum --> Criminal lives. (Thought that participate in 'real crimes' not the war on drugs bull shit for example).

Lewk, I'm confused about your beliefs and principles. You portray yourself as a Christian, yet refuse to acknowledge Jesus's teachings about being shepherds of the Earth's animals, lands, and seas.

I think you're really just an "Opportunist" that idolizes money and wealth, hiding behind the cloaks of Religion or Libertarianism or Capitalism as it suits your needs or purposes.

No offense intended, there's a lot of that goin' round these days -- public figures posing themselves as "righteous Christians doing God's work" in the political forum, trying to get that Evangelical vote, even if that means denouncing Evolution and/or Science.

Lewk, you really should care about animal species endangerment or extinction that's due to human actions, whether you're a self-proclaimed Christian or not. Just don't make things worse by suggesting "it's no big deal" when a protected species gets killed by a wealthy US dentist for sport.
