Zombie Land

I thought it was good at what it was - it certainly was funny and it was directed and acted well. I gave it 3/5 stars on Netflix. Anyone see it? Comments?

I liked the Bill Murray as himself cameo - it was funny though I'm not sure I buy the circumstances he was living under. Probably that's part of the humor, I guess.

Also-

Why the hell was the power on everywhere? Who was keeping the power plants running?

Shouldn't there have been a LOT more zombies, especially in LA???

I liked the rules. #2 Double-tap.

How did the girls get onto and off of the swinging boat ride? Why in the hell did they get on that other ride to escape the zombies? Makes no sense to the point of stupid.

I understand this was not a serious film. It was intended to be humorous and fun and it honestly was. But its hard to get past some of the more blatantly stupid stuff. I just got done reading World War Z which tried to be as realistic as possible, so maybe I'm too into that mode and not enough into the fun of it.

Zombieland was supposed to be a stupid humor horror film. I don't think they expected it to do anywhere near as well as it did.
I had a blast watching the DVD. Especially some of the rules that didn't make the final cut.

Spoiler:

The dude cleared an entire park of zombies from inside a ticket booth, using hand guns. They weren't going for realistic.
As for the volume of zombies, wasn't this months after the infection? You think they just stand around and wait for food to drive up?

Oh, and the deliverance quotes in the supermarket were perfect.

The cameo appearance was the best, especially with how that scene ended. That rule is a double edged blade.

The movie doesn't fill in all the rules, which was sort of lame, so different lists have popped up here and there. Even Zombieland's official PR games have different rules for the same numbers

If he had enough amo - backpack full - he could clear the park, especially with the number of zombies that showed up. Make enough noise to attract their attention... I don't think that was as improbable as there still being electricity, and for that matter, there being so few zombies in the LA area. By rights the park should have been over-run with tens of thousands...

Are you thinking they ate each other? Or starved to death - these zombies weren't undead, but more like 28 Days Later I think - so that's possible. But then, if its been that long, why the electricity?

The banjo, the tune, the fat man, the "you got a purrdy mouth" quote, its all out of Deliverance. A movie you going to immediately add to your favorite torrent program or netflix que.

Brent watched it with us, thanks to Resident Evil he loves zombie movies. When the girl asks who Bill Murray was, and then who Gandhi was, he sadly asked the same thing

So they got that part about American youth correct.
