I wonder if the effect (if it exists) is rooted in subtle conditioning/priming over the course of a lifetime, or in things like the density vs. legibility of the individual words and sentences.
While I like Georgia in many situations, sometimes it makes me angry and frustrated. Too much fat and noise, makes it more difficult to pick up and process the meat/signal.

No doubt a contributing factor to Dread's irrational hatred of the paper.
I imagine 90% of internet forums would either die or be substantially improved by a switch to eg. Garamond or Baskerville. Can you imagine how deeply embarrassing it would be to post short, trivial, spammy or otherwise useless things in such a font? Posters would either run from the shame or live up to the expectations set by the font. They would even read each others' posts carefully.

Did you know that Garamond is only on 85% of Windows PCs? That shit is hardly web safe. You obviously do not know very much about fonts.
Also, did you know that for 95% of internet forums "death" and "substantial improvement" are one and the same thing? It's true!

For me, it's the legibility. Most of your text appears just slightly squashed on my monitor right now. If I bump up the page magnification in my browser a notch from where I normally have it, your posts become much more readable. I'd say there problem might also be exacerbated by my use of the Darkvision theme, I know that your text becomes even more difficult to read when in the black-background quote field of this theme, while the "normal" font used *default on here is Arial, right?* does not.

Depends on the theme but its Verdana for Classic Blue but will default eventually to Arial if other similar fonts aren't an option. I believe the rest are Arial.

The reason for choosing Verdana over Arial was actually kind of self-centered, but based on aesthetics and legibility, as you can see above. For the self-centered reasons compare below...

I like Verdana. Georgia is less readable on my dark vision theme. And it appears the standard is Verdana on Dark Vision, as well!
