DIVINE RIGHT OF KINGS AND QUEENS: REFUTED

    That is all.
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

    Default Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubillee

Did anyone attend the four-day festivities? I saw some on TV, enjoyed the fly over with red, white and blue smoke from the planes. And the guys with the guard giving three cheers without their black fuzzy hats.

(I've always wondered.....what the hell does she carry in those purses....?)

Also wonder if there's any talk of storming the castles and taking back the public booty?

Not seen much of it at all (more due to work than anything else) but even as a republican this weekend has made me smile. First and foremost a patriot and it is such a pleasant change to see such flag waving. Though during the concert fireworks I swear they broadcast our red, white and blue as the French tricolour. You don't have to be a monarchist to respect this monarch.

While it's 2 Bank Holidays this week (for those of you who actually get Bank Holidays off), technically only today was for the Jubilee. Yesterday was the one week delayed Summer Bank Holiday (last Monday of May).

2012 is shaking up to be a good summer to be English. First the jubilee, later the Olympics. Euro 2012 is paling into insignificance in comparison.

Would certainly have done if we were home, but we were away for the entire four day period.

Watched just about all of it on the gogglebox tho.

Tis the subject of much discussion and speculation

I figured at least a handkerchief, a cough drop, and a lipstick. Would have been shocked if it included a cell-phone, credit card, or house keys.

BTW, it's been acceptable ladies' etiquette for decades to apply lipstick at the table after a meal, as long as it's done discreetly and doesn't turn into a 'grooming session' of combing hair or checking/picking food in teeth. At least that's what my grandmother taught me, and what she learned from Emily Post.
