    Default vBulletin 4.1.8

4.1.8 is incoming. Most likely time is Saturday evening, PST. It looks like it's mostly a bug fix version, so I see no reason not to take it.

crossing my fingers for the "leave the page" and invalid url error fixes...

Oh, the leave the page one...I've been meaning to fix that. It's not a difficult fix, I've just been lazy. Hassle me this weekend if the upgrade doesn't fix it.

I've never been able to repro the invalid url thing.

This is the least important bug ever, but is this

    new?
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

If you are on the mobile theme, every time I go to another page it switches back to the default theme.

    Also true for Classic Blue.

    Fixed.

Looking into the theme switching issue. Could you try control+refreshing, then switching themes again, and let me know if that makes it go away? I'm having trouble getting a repro.

Does the same thing on both the android default browser and opera mini.

I can report the theme switching issue on Ubuntu and Android.

Could you check your forum skin in your settings (User CP -> General Settings)? I'm suspecting the problem is something with the cookies, but I can't get a repro. Changing your skin setting will hopefully work around the problem with the temporary styles from the dropbox.

My skin is set to classic blue.

(I mentioned Ubuntu and Android before because the issue isn't on XP)

In that case, have you tried clearing your cookies?

That doesn't seem to do anything - when I change the style there, nothing happens. When I then change it at the bottom of the page, it will change - but when I browse to another page it goes back to default.

edit: and not a clue how to clear cookies here, i'll look into it - but I tried it on a different browser that I never used for this website before, and the same thing happened, and that browser didn't have any cookies for this site yet.

It's an Opera issue. Chrome retains skin settings just fine in Chrome.Flixy, if you've got Opera Mini set as the default browser in android, you may find that it sort takes over a lot of the mediation between browsing and the actual, like, operating system. Try setting something else as the default and see what happens.

It's not really set as default (when I click a link it asks which browser I want to use), and the default browser has the same issue, and they don't share cookies because sites where I'm logged on in opera aren't logged in on browser.

Does this mean I'm off the hook?

Well, I checked the official vBulletin forums and it was able to remember the skins I'd chosen across different pages, so unless I can pin it down to something to do with Opera's admittedly sometimes incredibly tenacious caching... no. Also, Flixy has the problem crossbrowser on Android.

Profile pages don't actually honor themes - they're customized by the user you're viewing.

Hey, cool, I have a visitor message!

Holy fucking shit. Do you have no sense of decency?

Upper Right Hand Corner, above the text box, click "Hide User Customizations"...a button for those who wish to deal with the people not responsible enough to make aesthetic decisions that don't result in eye searing pain...

I went to check my profile after the most recent update, because they quite frequently break CSS outside of the main pages, and noticed the customization button, and was wondering why they thought it was a good idea to implement, and that it would likely be abused. Thank you for proving me right.

It doesn't have a million animated .gifs, nor crappy music poorly recorded by his band playing in an unmuteable loop in the background, so its not as bad.

vBulletin Developers: You know what, this man is right! What we need to do is give the users some way of uploading their own images and music, to further enhance their ability to express themselves through customizing their user pages. We'll of course have to change the CSS some more, and this will likely break everyone's custom themes, but you don't make an omelet without cracking a few eggs...
