    Dispatch from the failed state:

Meanwhile, Republicans' anti-democratic poll tax in Florida may have paid off. What a sad country.

I find it interesting that record-high turnout rate yields fairly similar results.

Meanwhile, California stepped away from a rent control abyss (again) and several states voted to legalize ranch.

But trying to just wait and see what happens, this will take time. Pennsylvania is habitually incompetent (yet important).

Massive swings in a number of counties, and if Biden flips a few states that will hardly be "fairly similar". I expect Biden's popular vote margin will be greater than Clinton's was.

Yah, it's that stupidly antiquated system.

Who'd have thought that a centuries old document that does not easily get updated makes problems later on?

Pennsylvania would have to swing more than 70% towards Biden in the estimated remaining votes. Possible but I don't really trust the projections that it's how the absentees are expected to play out. If he does then if can get just one of Michigan, Wisconsin, or maybe still North Carolina? then he's got it. Even without Penn if he can carry both Michican and Wisconsin he could still eke it out. Again, feeling kinda skeptical when I look at how the Dems have seen their majority decrease in the House and how it looks like they won't be taking the Senate. I think it's four more years. And I just don't see how the American public even in the GOP strongholds is just that dumb and suicidal after this pandemic. Florida I get, they're just lunatics.

MI and WI looks pretty good based on the geographical distribution and nature of the remaining uncounted ballots. WI likely to go to a recount, though.

PA is pretty tight, but so many of the remaining votes are mail in ballots, especially from the Philly area, that it's possible we could see that kind of shift. I'm less convinced, though, given results in Eastern Ohio and the much tighter races in MI and WI than polling suggested.

NV is also tricky, looks pretty good for Biden but going to be close. If NV doesn't go for Biden, he'll be in trouble - then he'll need either PA, GA, or NC, none of which look great. So honestly I think the attention should be on PA and NV.

The Senate was always going to be a tough lift so I'm not shocked - I was more surprised that models were predicting 51-52 seats as we got closer, some of those marginal seats didn't seem very likely to me.

Biden is now leading in Michigan and Wisconsin, if he can hold onto his lead in Nevada and Arizona then that's his 270 with no Pennsylvania necessary.

Trump is behaving like a lowlife of the worst kind again.
    Congratulations America

How did this ever get so close. Yeah, Biden is as exciting as wallpaper glue, but really. This Trump fuck just beggars belief.

Dumb fucking animals trying to interfere with the vote counting in Detroit, even though dozens of their compatriots are already in the room "challenging" basically every single ballot:

Nope, Dems definitely didn't do well at the state level.

We shouldn't be worrying about how 1% of the vote will go in a handful of states when Trump is on the ballot. It's disgraceful that this election was remotely close.

Mitch called for Biden, and I think Wisconsin would be too, but for a recount. Trump can still (legitimately) win but it's an increasingly narrow path, I'd say. Need some major upset in the west.

Rioting and harassments of people as they dined really wasn't a good look for Democrats. Then you also have the reality that Trump campaigned far harder than Biden did.

Only dumb fucks like you think that was representative of the Democrats. There were many dumb fucks like you who are harassing people at polling stations. More dumb fucks harassing the Biden bus. And even more dumb fucks spreading disease at rallies.

And the fact dumb fucks like you think he's a good thing.

Lots of voter fraud claims being thrown around on social media - Hanlon’s Razor through typical government incompetence is the more likely case for discrepancies and dubious looking behavior. However... what if evidence comes to light of actual fraud? A poll worker caught throwing out a number of ballots for one side or another. Pro-active curing of ballots for one party but not the other by supposedly neutral poll workers. If caught it will likely still be impossible to know the full extent - what legal remedies would the courts consider in such a scenario?

You guys have held up hundreds of thousands of ballots and tried to prevent them from being counted, not to mention basically implementing a poll tax to subvert the will of Florida voters, but sure, I guess what you're making sense from the head-up-your-ass perspective.

Meanwhile, surprising evidence that US cops know how to not assault protesters:

Well sure. These protestors are Republican. Also important (though kinda redundant after saying they were Republican), they're not black.

Throwing Trump in jail for bribery and conspiracy.

He's subverting the democratic institutions of this country. Throw Trump in jail for treason. He's always said he supports bringing that back as a prosecuted charge.

Global stock markets climb on prospect of Biden presidency

I thought GOP were the party of the economy ...

And Trump's voters vote for him in the main because they believe (truly or falsely) that the economy is better in his hands than a Dem candidate.

Or is this a reflection of a global view that Trump is so completely dire that anyone but him, including a Dem candidate, is a boon to the markets?

    Markets like certainty and stability.

A GOP Senate and Biden Presidency will provide a lot of stability in coming years.
