"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
Steely when people are talking about Impeaching Trump there are only two possibilities. Trump stays in office or he doesn't. If Trump stays in office its a massive W for Republicans. The House Impeaching him (technically accurate) means nothing when the Senate finds him not guilty. When people say "I hope Trump gets impeached" they aren't merely saying they hope the House votes to Impeach him they are hoping he is actually removed from office. Try not to get hung up on semantics.
Impeachment is a process (see Steely's definition). Before now it's been called an impeachment investigation and/or inquiry -- but Pelosi made it official after pressure from Dems, putting the process on a faster, tighter track.
No one knows what the outcome will be, but it doesn't have to mean removal from office. Censure is an option, too. The only thing that seems certain is senate Republicans will continue to act like Trump Toadies, sealing the GOP's reputation as hypocrites with double standards (see Lindsay Graham).
Biden announces candidacy around the same time the pressure on Ukraine escalates, shortly before Barr gets fidgety when asked if Trump has instructed him to investigate any specific individual. New report is a second whistle-blower who alleged misconduct in handling of Trump's IRS investigation.

Ukraine understood that accommodating Trump re. Biden was a precondition for phone call: https://amp.axios.com/zelensky-ukrai...77fc4025a.html

SourceThe whistleblower complaint that focused on President Donald Trump’s request to Ukraine’s government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden also alleges White House officials moved the records of some of Trump’s communications with foreign officials onto a separate computer network.
First reported by the Washington Post and now evident as the whistleblower complaint was publicly released, the complaint alleged the Trump transcript with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was placed on a computer system directly managed by the National Security Council Directorate for Intelligence Programs.
The whistleblower cited officials he or she spoke with that this not the first time a presidential transcript was placed into the system “solely for the purpose of protecting politically sensitive — rather than national security sensitive — information.”
The complaint more broadly alleges Trump is using the power of his office to solicit foreign interference in the U.S. election.
The White House has not responded to MarketWatch about this particular element of the whistleblower complaint.
Trump defended his July phone call with Ukraine’s president, saying there was “no pressure” on him as a summary showed Trump urging his counterpart to open a probe related to Biden.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday announced the opening of an impeachment inquiry.
Section II of the complaint linked previously. It's not the same as Hillary's private e-mail servers, as a lot of people are saying. The issue for Hillary was that it was a private e-mail server, this is still a government network. There the evidence was also destroyed after being requested, and we have no evidence yet that that happened here. That said, this implies the administration knew how bad Trump fucked up, since they took efforts to bury the evidence.
On the side: I kinda feel sorry for Giuliani. The stress of all this is clearly pushing him towards the edge, if not over it. He's fallen so far from his peak back when he was America's Mayor. Even career moves that should have taken him upwards keep leaving him even lower than before. Hope he has a good retirement plan in place, because I don't think he'll be working any more.
Flouting legal requirements wrt keeping records has been the admin's MO from day one. Either no records are made, or they're destroyed. This has been Trump's practice for decades.

Holy shit. This is a layout of Trump's plan to win in 2020. Create a story that the Clinton Campaign, with Joe Biden's direct help, tried to influence the 2016 election using Ukraine somehow. Get the Ukrainian government to go along by creating false investigations. Use it to dominate the election conversation in 2020. It's the same play book as BENGAZI! and PERSONAL EMAIL SERVER! they used to demonize Clinton and win 2016. Make up some bullshit to create murky doubt about conspiracy and corruption. This whistle blower dude is a hero.

It's jaw dropping but I don't think it's far from Republican business as usual. It's just that Mr. President is so fucking incompetent he pulled the curtain back for us all to see the shit that party has been up to for years.
EDIT: And by the way, the thread titles is wrong. This crime is WAY dumber than the cover-up. Mind boggling stupid arrogance of this cocksucker.

Be funny if Warren got the nomination and Trump would be all, like, "welp, gone and done got myself impeached digging up dirt on the wrong candidate!"

Discuss those issues in their respective threads and discuss the extremely disturbing reports of corrupt and criminal conduct on the part of Trump and his henchmen here.
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
Irrelevant in light of the extraordinary ongoing ethical violations - ie. of the current, established rules & guidelines - on the part of seemingly every single person in or associated with the Trump admin. But, again, not the subject of the thread.

So fucking irresponsible. Just hours after POTUS openly suggested those responsible for the complaint should be treated as traitors and executed.
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
Giuliani has only himself to blame -- he chose the mobster mentality over a legit legal career.
I feel sorry for Ukraine. They're under tremendous pressure from Russia, need the US as an ally, but don't want to get dragged into our politics. It's shameful how Trump held their financial aid hostage, and tried to use their new president's political inexperience -- to get dirt on Biden.
I've heard suggestions that Team Trump is trying to reverse-engineer (and de-legitimize) the Mueller report, pin the 2016 election meddling on Ukraine (in order to vindicate Putin), and then pardon Manaforte. Sounds weird, but Ukraine has been on their radar since the primaries, when they got the GOP to change its Ukraine agenda out of the blue. Not to mention Trump's affinity for Putin and Russia.
As usual Rand Paul provides some much needed leadership when it comes to common sense:

You didn't bother to read the comments, huh.
"Because Biden did that in concert with numerous other governments and the IMF AND he did it for the country not himself."
And if you want to be consistent about nepotism, you should be critical of Ivanka Trump getting patents approved while her dad is making "trade deals" with China. If you're outraged, make another thread for that.
As usual, the only person dumber than you is Rand Paul, Supreme Congressional Derphead. Biden delivered the request to have that prosecutor removed, on the behalf of several countries, because he was widely regarded as being an IMPEDIMENT to corruption investigations. It was the opposite of covertly pressuring a foreign govt to investigate a private American citizen for personal political political gain in an American election. Rand Paul is such a fucking meathead it isn't even funny.
Meanwhile,
