Pipes fixed, showered for nearly an hour till water ran cold. Turns out they weren't frozen, not the pipes anyway. It was the main shut-off valve at the street. Broken pipe filled access with water which then froze solid. Utility workers were on it until after midnight, digging up the main and replacing my shut-off. quick work considering the scope of the problem.
The worst job in the world is better than being broke and homeless

Just how do you plan on taking advantage of this?

It's almost up to freezing outside, and it isn't even noon yet! Today could be the day that escape happens!

I'll be watching the ice melt, I will.

The seats look pretty cool. I'm actually kinda eager to see what the decals or paint job or whatever looks like on Bitter's car.

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

People usually make happy faces when they get engaged.

    Like this.

    Congrats, though.

Finally have got a working printer at home. That's the first time in 6 years. For some reason I could never get a printer to work around this place. Today picked up an Epson SW515 and it's actually doings things you'd expect from a printer. Like not telling me (even without paper) that there is a paper jam or that there isn't a printer at all. Wireless no less.
    Congratulations America

Yeah, i've had that a lot this weekend - especially from her family. Although i did respond along the lines of "Being engaged is like having a car finance deal on your relationship, although you have the monthly costs you can always trade it in at any time for a better model!".

Apparently i'm supposed to feel different about it all, strangely i don't. Perhaps in my mind i already saw us engaged/married because we share commitments such as buying the house or living together already.

That's actually a law in Germany.
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

    God your nosey! MYOB!

She isn't Greek, why do you ask?

    Just being nosey

My sister married into a Greek family. It took them years to accept that she wasn't Greek, and he wasn't going to marry a Greek girl. Everyone else in his family (on both sides) had married Greeks. It was sort of like an expectation for them. They actually waited until after his father had died before announcing their engagement and planning marriage.

    Woooooo!

    Nice one Lor.

Was just a matter of time eh.

The future Mrs Lor is a lucky lady.

I feel all proud. One of our own has grown up and is getting hitched.

We've been together for nearly 6 years now. We're thinking about 2013 for the special day but we'll have to wait until we are settled in the house and other things are sorted.

At the moment my head is in the housing game. I went to the building site yesterday to show my mother and her partner, by the looks of things the footings are about to be put in so the plot will be going up for sale. Can't wait! Badly want a garden!
