Thread: What is making you happy right now

    I turned 18 today!
Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?

The Three Stooges. They always makes me laugh. This is a skit I've never seen before, everything they say is in rhyme.

    Thanks!

It seems to be a good day as well. Frosty, but sunny. Now I also finally got my hands on Gran Turismo 5, which I expect will be a blast!

Happy that John McCain didn't end up at POTUS. He's still alive and kicking, refudiating our worries about his age and cancer. But he's waffled on so many issues like DADT and Bush's tax cuts. When things looked dire, he promised anything to be re-elected as senator from Arizona. He's still singing Sarah's song, too. Gawd, what a wimp.

But thank god he's not a black, anti-Israeli populist, eh? [/sarcasm]

The big freeze with accompanying snow that has engulfed much of the UK finally reached London this morning.

I just heard I'm going to have a long weekend Due to some internal moving I got a memo telling me how to label my stuff and that I 'wasn't expected to be at work this friday'. Since we're not supposed to take work anywhere else, that means I have a day off extra.
    Congratulations America

    Yes, Amazon.

I wasn't planning on buying it this soon, but I had the money, so...

    Also I got a 100 on a test I got back today.

Spilt water on my laptop with USB memory dongle in, but both are okay!
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

    Dongle. I love that word.

I think I shall say it a lot.

Christmas tree is up I am an ornament freak. Don't go for those fancy trees with color coordinated balls and garland, all themed out.

Mine is a proud smorgasbord of ornaments collected through the years. I could tell you where almost everyone came from. They all have a story. My life story is on display on my tree. It may look tacky to some, but to see all those memories scattered about the branches makes me happy.

    Sorry for a GGT-like post

Never fails, does it? Stooges are terrific!

I really have no idea why I am happy. I woke up this way, and the day has gone great! The Kid, (who hasn't been speaking to me for a few weeks) and I are going shopping on Friday in Casper, I have my shopping list ready to go, and I actually (for a change) have the money to shop with! Life is just hellagood!

Ok, just got a phone call. The new cop in town, who was a complete asshole, has been fired! I guess he went to the wrong address on a domestic violence call, at 2AM, pulled his gun on the homeowner, and tried to throw him and his wife in jail. That would not be anywhere near so funny except, the homeowner is a city councilman! To say nothing of the fact that Dennis is the last person that it is safe to pull a gun on! (Sorry, the dickhead cop did a drunk-test on The Kid because he went thru the fucking drive-up window and bought me a pack of smokes.)

I went to see the housing developer the other day to see if they've released the plot i want to purchase. She updated me with news that they wanted to finish the other development phases before they start mine so the house i want will take a little longer than first planned (i expect this).

However, we are guaranteed to have first refusals on the plot regardless so i'm really happy about that. I also don't mind the extended development time either as it enables me to save further pennies for the finishing touches such as real wood flooring that i really want plus extra bits in the kitchen/bathroom that i was the developer to fit (dishwasher FTW!).

Not that I have any issues whatsoever with the police, but that's a hilarious story with a good outcome despite its rash event!

Also thanks to you and Timbuk2 for the congratulations!

In other news, I got a sound card as a present and bought a SSD myself. A riveting upgrade.

Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?

I went to BJ's to buy an enormous quantity of peppermints, and bought the last three Harry Potter DVDs for $7.99 each. Kids are quite happy, my son hasn't seen 5 and 6.

Cat's been operated and doing fine. In fact, doing better than fine. She's ludicrously happy. Bouncing all over the place. Breathing seems to be a big thing with cats.

The stuff that has been removed is sent to the lab to see whether it was bad.

I want to be jealous, but I still can't justify the cost of SSDs I picked up two 1TB Maxtor drives that arrived earlier this week. RAID0 obviously, and oh how I've missed the days of RAIDed Raptors. 2TB of space, lets see if Steam's holiday sale is up to the challenge.

These new drives are Maxtors spinning at 7900rpms. Can't hear them working at all, my Hitachi drive they are replacing was the noisiest drive I've ever owned. Never again.
