MASS EFFECT 3 DEMO ON XBOX!!!!!!
OMG
Brevior saltare cum deformibus viris est vita
I've heard that if you download the demo, you get free Live Gold till the game launches in March.
Worth a shot to test

I think I've grown oldI never get excited about new games anymore. I bought a bunch of shit in the Steam holiday sale, and have played maybe a couple of those games. I didn't even play through Super Meat Boy, for fuck's sake. Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you're my gaming's only hope
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.
I know your pain Nessus. And even if I do get a little excited it is quickly extinguished when I remember I don't have the time or mental endurance for the types of games I used to.
This also applies to many movies coming to theaters.![]()
Yeah, that's a big part of it. When you're 17, you can just sit on your ass for 16 hours casting magic missile at boogey-men. Now I work a stupid amount of hours, and when I get home I kind of don't want to have to think about which boogey-man to magic away first. And I never got very proficient at games where I actually have to aim at the boogey-men, or the Nazi, I want dead next, so I can't just pick up an FPS habit, either.

Seems I don't play enough EA games on the 360. Discovered EA stupidly requires me to connect me Live ID to my Origin ID. Which sucks, but the best part is that I can't do that, because EA's servers already melted.
fucking morons.
EDIT:
also didn't get Gold access![]()

The implementation is good I think. I read a number of reviews/previews for it. Got a beta for it (after begging for it), but I found out that my computer wayyy couldn't handle it at the time. The company that made RUSE is very cool, friendly, and in-touch with gamers. You should support them.. No doubt it's pretty well-discounted by now.
This same company made Act of War, which is very impressive as well, especially given that the company is not that big.
2 reasons I asked. The reviews have been far from consistent. The game-pace ranges from sluggish to frantic in them. And the second reason is it's carried by Ubisoft. I need a good reason to go through one of their installing processes again.
Since you played it: can I play this leisurely? Can I halt the action, overview the situation and send this unit here, and that unit attacking there, and resume? Or will this be a clickfest?
I could have had class. I could have been a contender.

Okay, Mass Effect 3 looks nice. A few complaints, though:
- The graphics now look positively dated - my graphics card is not taxed in the least. The animations are plain weird - I'm pretty sure that no one is running in the way my character runs.
- The demo jumps around way too much. First we get the attack on Earth which ends with us fleeing on the Normandy. Then we get the beginning of a Wrex mission. Then we get a later part of this same mission.
- No saving / loading. Has to be played through in one go.
- Logic hole right at the beginning - countless shuttles, battleships and so on are shot down - but the Normandy is being ignored by the Reapers even when it hovers for nearly a whole minute in spitting distance of a Reaper.
Oh well...

Use spoiler tags on spoilery stuff!Haven't played it yet, and have been avoiding all media on it until release.
But since I accidentally read this sentence:
I'm actually doubting my memory a bit because this seems to be too hard sci-fi for a video game, but wasn't the Normandy special because it was the stealthiest mother-fucker in the Terran fleet? Not star-trek cloaking - I think I remember it very specifically not working in the visual spectrum -, but it could turn invisible to mechanical sensors at will by reducing its emissions to near-zero. For a while, anyways, before all the heat and energy they weren't emitting fries the crew. Since the Reapers are largely mechanical, I'd assume their stealth tech would work just as well on them as on the Turians.
This is accurate. The Normandy stores heat internally. Also in ME2 you do have an entire mission devoted to capturing and using a Reaper IFF (Identify Friend/Foe) unit, so that the relay on the opposite end of the Omega Relay would interpret the incoming craft as a Reaper, and not dump it into the nearby blackhole. Since you murdered everyone there that was a Reaper/Allied with the Reapers, its unlikely that the ones coming in from outside the galaxy got the memo that whatever ID this particular IFF is using isn't a Reaper. That plus EDI supposedly has electronic counter-measures, so...
...yeah. Nerded that up a notch.
. . .
Just realized Crusader Kings II came out a few days ago. I preordered it. So it was already sitting there, waiting for me. Sadly, not enough time right now, maybe tomorrow.
I'd wait for the first major patch, maybe the second.
Hope is the denial of reality
Well, that makes sense when considering interplanetary / intrasystem sensors. However, the ship is hovering right in front of a frickin' Reaper. Last time I looked, all the Stealth in the world doesn't help you if you can simply see the target.
I mean, sure, shunting the IR emissions in a direction away from sensors at fitting times makes for a stealthy approach. That ability does not help you in case of simple line of sight, however.

OMG SO MUCH SNOW
It looks fake! It looks like a Hollywood Christmas movie set! And it's wonderful and fluffynot cold outside AT ALL, so my first snow-shovelling experience was very nice albeit somewhat sisyphean.

That's a great game.![]()
Hope is the denial of reality
I read it. All that stuff has nothing to do with plain old line of sight. Not to mention that I'd expect an ancient sentient machine race to be able to update their IFF signals after they've been shown that their old codes were compromised. Also: The Collectors were able to hit the Normandy Mark 1 just fine.

Well I'm guessing that you didn't comprehend it then. Electronic countermeasures would mean that potentially they can't fire their weapons, it also explained that the Reapers coming into the galaxy have had no contact with anything that could have informed them that a Reaper IFF was stolen and is now in use by a human ship, and your argument also includes the fact that you know how an ancient sentient machine race thinks...bravo. Stanislaw Lem would be proud.

. . .
Would space faring machines that spend most of their lives in the darkness beyond the galaxy even have eyes? The visible spectrum isn't very useful in space.AllMost of the cool stuff is happening at other frequencies.

All of it, Mollari?

I also doubt that Terran ECM is that powerful. After all, the Reapers are pretty much flattening everything.
And considering the fact that the Reaper's agenda pretty much can be summed up as: "Destroy all the things!", I dare say that they certainly will think about such stuff.
And why wouldn't they use all of the spectrum available? Doesn't make much sense to limit your sensory input, just in case your enemy manages to be invisible inside a certain part of the spectrum. I mean, if you're using IR to detect ships it's not such a big problem to include UV-VIS as well.

Well, I was going to start Skyrim today but I'm afraid of saving over Hubby's game. Apparently Bethesda didn't think more than one person in the house would play the gameHave to wait until Hubby backs up his saves since apparently QuickSave will overwrite his game if he doesn't have them hardsaved. (Which he probably does but he wants to make sure that Vista stores it properly).
Sigh.
I played through Glow in Fallout 1 over the weekend! And conquered about half the map in two games of Master of Magic!
I'm not sure whether that's sad. And for whom.

That's the plan, but I'm waiting for him to get home to "supervise" because I'm afraid of messing something up!I'm just being paranoid, I guess
