Best quote I've seen yet (Taken from a comment on Sky Sports website): Luis Suarez must have got the Silence of the Lambs movie wrong as it's "A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." not "A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chiellini".

    PS: England suck!

When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Why do I get the feeling that Suarez just wanted a longer summer vacation?

On a more serious note: This is dangerously close to putting The Onion out of a job!

    Ann Coulter for prez.

    • The prospect of either personal humiliation or major injury is required to count as a sport. Most sports are sublimated warfare. As Lady Thatcher reportedly said after Germany had beaten England in some major soccer game: Don't worry. After all, twice in this century we beat them at their national game.

    • You can't use your hands in soccer. (Thus eliminating the danger of having to catch a fly ball.) What sets man apart from the lesser beasts, besides a soul, is that we have opposable thumbs. Our hands can hold things. Here's a great idea: Let's create a game where you're not allowed to use them!

    • It's foreign. In fact, that's the precise reason the Times is constantly hectoring Americans to love soccer. One group of sports fans with whom soccer is not "catching on" at all, is African-Americans. They remain distinctly unimpressed by the fact that the French like it.

    • Soccer is like the metric system, which liberals also adore because it's European. Naturally, the metric system emerged from the French Revolution, during the brief intervals when they weren't committing mass murder by guillotine.

    How utterly bizarre.

    ... and ...

    • Liberals get angry and tell us that the metric system is more "rational" than the measurements everyone understands. This is ridiculous. An inch is the width of a man's thumb, a foot the length of his foot, a yard the length of his belt. That's easy to visualize. How do you visualize 147.2 centimeters?

... should win some kind of award. That's quite special.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...amas-scandals/ Apparently the reason we have the World Cup right now is to distract Americans from Obama's mistakes.

    That makes perfect sense, Icky.

I couldn't understand why people were suddenly interested.

I hear we'll have another World Cup in a few months if the situation in Iraq worsens.

And that's it for the US. There's no chance they'll score two goals in the next 15 minutes.

Belgium wins, USA is out. Incredible how bad ball control was at both sides.
    Congratulations America

Our goalie had the most saves in the entire history of the world cup...

    Satire is apparently lost.

I'll admit Coulter likes to blur the lines on her serious arguments and her over the top hilarious trolling but come on. Really? Do you really think she is making a genuine point that games that have the use of opposable thumbs are inherently superior? Really?

Well Belgium were fancied to do well but I'd far rather the US won that one.

Oh well. I got Argentina in the office sweepstake so they'd better up their game after that piss-poor show against Suisse.

Imagine how bad your defense must be to allow that to happen

After the piss poor performance against the Swiss, I'm definitely rooting for the Red devils, and not just because they're our neighbours. They better shape up too, though, they had the upper hand most of the time against USA but you're going to have to score more of your chances against Argentina I'm afraid.
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
