"In a field where an overlooked bug could cost millions, you want people who will speak their minds, even if they’re sometimes obnoxious about it."
Turns out I did have time to play tonight. To bad Anon used their LOIC to bring down the Sony sites and PSN today, not that I want to complain, I was expecting it after the way Sony is going ater Geohot. Guess I'll have to wait till later in the week before I unlock the extra useless bonus material.

Amusing review. But if someone would like to take a look at a serious review they can check here.

I only took about 30 hours so maybe I missed some quests but the game was pretty damn sweet. More action packed then Origins and it really has the ability to get new people into the genre.Dragon Age 2 does it right. It’s still an RPG epic, it still takes upwards of 50 hours to finish. It’s still got a deep, complex combat system, and it’s still got a well-defined supporting cast. But it’s also an RPG that wears its mythology proudly, confident in its goal of charting the rise of a complete and utter badass. You.
Word of warning for those that pick up the Xbox Kinect 2nd hand. The Kinect device that ships with the newer model Xbox 360 Slims does not work directly with the older xbox 360 designs. It requires a special cable that sends data via USB and power via a wall plug (and the cable doesn't ship in the Kinect+360 packages).
I never noticed the plug difference until today, wanted to show the Kinect to the gamezone kids at the library, but its not compatible.

My boy is extremely pissed off. He beat Paper Mario today, and discovered that there's nothing after the fireworks. No bonus, no going back to replay, just game over.
I didn't know, I never had a Nintendo 64.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
I remember that!
Paper Mario 2 on the Gamecube let you continue after you beat the final boss, as did Super Paper Mario. Don't know why the first one didn't.
I enjoy blank walls.
I pre-ordered Portal 2 for the PS3 today (plus it comes with a free PC copy), since there is a chance it will drop early (this Friday instead of next week), I didn't want to risk losing the $20 amazon credit thats going on right now.
God I hope Brandy doesn't suck in the co-op, I've been trying to play Slayer matches with her on Halo Reach and half the time she running off cliffs while looking at the sky or groundMaybe I should get her to play through Portal 1 or Half Life 2 so we can enjoy the Portal 2 storyline together...

Ha, my daughter is still playing Portal, up to level 16, and she just said "I don't want to get killed, so I'll just walk into the room and do something stupid."
And she made it, just got her companion cube. That bit is so stupid.
Finished pre-loading Portal 2 this morning, so it'll be ready the instant it's released.
Also, Companion Cube is possibly the best level in any game ever.
You've both got to be kidding me.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
Thats the one downside to waiting for the PS3 version. No pre-loading.
Thats why I'm hoping that all the emphasis the current Portal 2 ARG is putting on Friday is some sort of HL2:E3 or HL3 announcement tying together the hints that Portal and Half-Life are connected in some fashion.
Its going to suck if they unlock early on Friday, and I'm stuck waiting till next week.

My kid loves MineCraft. It looks kind of addictive....

well, this is a huge fucking let down. Internet spent days figuring out all the Potato ARG clues, and it alls leads to a sales push by Steam that boils down to "the more people who spend $40 on a bunch of indie games that no one expects to play after getting Portal 2, the sooner you may get portal 2.

Valve are Genii, that's for sure.
I can't wait to get Portal 2. Steam on the PS3! My bum feels all tight every time I think about it.
And I remember when Steam came out, and it was the most horrible piece of software ever. Now, I realise it was actually way ahead of its time, and iTunes was in fact the most horrible piece of software ever

I still hate Steam. And iTunes.
We pre-ordered Portal 2 for the xbox 360. Since that console has to have been the biggest waste of money ever. I think it had been turned off for over a year until last week or so.
I'll try to remember to cancel my xbox gold account this year. I hope, anyway. Hmm, wonder if they'd give me a prorated refund if I canceled now or not. I should check.
Anyway, I decided to play Sims Medieval again today for awhile. It's a little frustrating.
Also, fucking awesome.

Slow and steady wins the race: Pokéwalker beats other pedometers in ISU study
AMES, Iowa -- When it comes to walking and pedometers, it pays to be pokey -- better yet, a Pokéwalker. That's according to a new Iowa State University study that tested step-counting devices for accuracy.
The Pokéwalker (left) -- a pedometer that translates total steps into experience points in its corresponding Pokémon video game -- had substantially reduced step-counting error in the study compared to both a standard DigiWalker pedometer and a Sensewear armband as walking speed on a treadmill increased. However, all three devices showed a high degree of error when compared to manual counting at slower speeds.
Lorraine Lanningham-Foster, an ISU assistant professor of food science and human nutrition, led the study, which measured the step accuracy of each method among 22 children and eight adults who walked for a timed interval at four speeds on a treadmill. She presented the results this week at the Experimental Biology 2011 conference in Washington D.C.
"In comparing all those measures, the Pokéwalker did very well," said Lanningham-Foster, who researches the measurable health benefits of active video games. "It's very accurate and precise. So as a tool that can be used to actually change behavior and a child can use to truly understand and learn about how much they're walking, it could be a good tool."
Iowa State research assistants Randal Foster, Megan Barnes, Elsa Kracke, Samantha Kling and Maren Vik also collaborated on the study.
When Lanningham-Foster first learned about Pokéwalker last spring, she became intrigued in studying its value as a new activity tool for kids -- particularly since it was designed to run on the Nintendo DS system.
"Our study was first to see how well the device works," she said. "As part of the work I do, I'm constantly testing different pedometers and devices just to see how well they work because if we want to use something to encourage someone to change their behavior, wouldn't it be good if it worked?
"The thing I like about it [Pokéwalker] is it's another format and a lot of kids have Nintendo DS. So it could just be one more avenue if they have the Wii at home or an Xbox 360," Lanningham-Foster said. "Often times, when I survey people, they have multiple gaming formats, and so this could just be another avenue for them to be involved in active gaming."
She says her Experimental Biology presentation is just the first step in the team's ongoing research on the Pokéwalker. They are also studying how the game impacted the number of steps each family member walked before and after they were given the game.
While they are still compiling those results, Lanningham-Foster says as expected, kids seemed to take to the Pokéwalker more than adults.
"Pokémon is a big toy for kids," she continued. "And that's why I was so interested in it is the idea that we have yet another active gaming format for kids."
The research is being funded by and conducted through ISU's Nutrition and Wellness Research Center.

What a retarded idea. Any idiot kid could realise you could shake a pedometer and get quicker results!
We do something called the GCC (Global Corporate Challenge) at work, and the idea is to do 10,000 steps a day and record your progress online.
When we got the pack with all the goodies delivered in, my buddy started walking over towards me while making beeping noises that got faster as he got closer.
When I asked wtf he was doing, he said it was just checking if his pedo-meter was working.
Funny bastard![]()

I'm sure some do - but the idea of giving a kid an in-game reward for being active is a really good thing. Need more things like that.
My kids got a kick out of theirs for awhile, not that they didn't already spend a decent amount of time outside playing.

The original pedometer that works with the original gold/silver goes for over a $100 on amazon. So pissed I lost mine
Word is that the console Nintendo is about to announce will have touch screen controllers, wonder if they're dropping the motion stuff...

My son's friend was able to create a private server for MineCraft. They'd tried the largest server but it was too "big", and a smaller server had a bunch of players who would break into their creations and steal stuff. So, a few 15 yr olds are building their own new world, cooperatively, and will open it up to new people once it's established. If they want, maybe/maybe not.
I have no idea how all this works (or even what it means, really), but it's amazing to me that they're doing this. And having such a blast!![]()
Turns out this may have been rigged, but now all the potatoes people were earning in game are now being consumed by GLaDOS, so something may happen within the next few hours.
A few new ARG clues have also come to light in the last 24 hours, more heavy hints of a HL2:E3 announcement.

I kinda enjoy Crysis 2 a lot. Whodda thunk. I'm pretty sure it's because of the Stealth feature of the suit and the over the top booming voice over when you activate shit.
Also little use to just jump out and start gunning down people left and right since you're always vastly outnumbered and your suit's energy only lasts for so long.
Thief on steroids. I give it![]()

I find that playing with my self is more satisfactory than gaming these days. It's especially fun in two-player mode. That said, after selling off my standard WoW account populated with T3 60's before the release of the current expansion I've found that hobbies like gardening and photography are more thrilling but also lonely.I just can't seem to summon the determination to play through any game these days.

^ Good game.
EDIT: at Crysis 2
Stealth is awesome, but the armor can be fun too, in a "hey can I survive jumping off this building and shooting a rocket into that crowd below at point blank range?" kind of way.![]()
