In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.

I have little hope about DNF being any good but it's brings back so many good memories I have to get it.
Dead Space 2 getting some good early reviews..cool
The DNF trailer looked kind of crap IMO.
Bulletstorm looks much better.

We're about to finish New Super Mario Wii.
It became bedtime before we finished, though.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
Bowser.
We'll have to go back and collect a lot of star coins.
We keep dying in approximately the same spot, but I'm sure we'll defeat it tomorrow. Or they will, just depends.
I'm not entirely sure I like the cooperative play thing, though. There have been multiple times when we've pushed each other off into pits or into enemies.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
Some people are just plain weird. So, yesterday saw my Paladin Tank running through one dungeon. Since no one of my guild was online, I used the random dungeon finder and ended up in another guild group, meaning the three damage dealers and the healer were from the same guild.
Bad experiences with such setups nonwithstanding, I set out to do my job. And I did it flawlessly, despite the attempts of a certain warrior class to botch it.
First piece of evidence: Ignoring the big skull over one enemy, instead electing a completely innocent bystander as his main target. Well, I simply let him play with that one.
Second piece: Some of the mobs kick you back upon dying - quite a distance, to boot. The warrior positioned himself thusly that he landed directly in the next group of enemies while we were still dealing with the first group.
Third piece: After this bit of shenanigans, our healer was a bit low on mana and I elected to let him have some cake... err, water. The warrior decided that mana was overrated and charged into the next group. I calmly watched him die, then roped in all the free-roaming enemies and proceeded to tank the shit out of them, a thing of beauty, I must say so.
Fourth and final piece: The healer, probably out of pity, wasted a precious in-fight resurrection on the warrior who then promptly decided to engage the enemy! The enemy on the other side of the bridge, that is. The ones I had not even thought of looking at yet, considering that I still had to contend with numerous foes on my side of the bridge.
Well, the rest of the damage dealers also decided that the grass over there was greener after all and ran after the warrior who spontaneously decided to fertilize the ground with his rotting corpse, him having charged in with only 10% of his healthpoints and whatnot.
Seeing this particular kind of trainwreck approaching like Sauron from Mount Doom going after the One Ring I simply posed the question: "What exactly is your major malfunction?"
I expected him to insult me for not being able to tank or maybe admit that he was lobotomized at age 4. Now that I think of it, he actually confessed to the latter by saying: "Shit healer!"
Ah, yes. I suddenly developed an overwhelming urge to wash my hair and left the group, wondering if that special guild would be lacking one member shortly...
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
Yes. In Germany we've taken to calling the random dungeon finder "Trottellotto" (i.e. Lottery of Morons) because of the sometimes very weird people who you're meeting there.
Ranging from the occasional "Must Bash Sheep!" warrior over the "Wait, I can banish demons?" warlock to the "What do you mean: 'Willpower is not a main stat for me'?" rogues. It seems that upon entering the finder the system rolls a four sided die which determines the amount of morons you get in your group.

Just finished my first game with the Undead, was so disappointed they were left out of the original (then again, they weren't in the original Board Game either). So much fun
Still having a bit of a DirectX issue with my PC, games keep crashing. Something is wrong with DirectX and I don't know what![]()
We beat it, started collecting our missing star coins.

Figured I would start by asking here before digging through google results.
I plan to sell my Xbox 360 tomorrow, with the 250gb harddrive. I want to back up my harddrive, because I plan to use the sale money towards a 360 S. So I can't do a direct transfer since I won't have the new system yet.
The 360 supports 16gb drives, can I move my 360 harddrive contents over to my PC, 16gbs at a time? Or will the PC not be able to recongize the file structure? So that when I can get the new system, I can transfer the files back, 16gbs at a time.
I know this is a "try and see" problem, but I'm at work, and I've got a lot of yardsale shit to plan for when I get home. If I had a solid answer before hand, it would help save a lot of time.
There's a man goin' 'round, takin' names

Target had a pretty good on their Kinect bundle. $299.99 for the xbox package, and $20 gift card. So I figured I would sell my 250gb jasper unit for $150 and get this newer unit (wireless!) with kinect. Not impressed setting it up. New xbox doesn't appear to have a more efficient power brick over the jasper unit, and the kinect needs 2-6 feet of vertical clearance. So its velrcoed to the top of my TV. Only positive aspect is that its the perfect size for the Wii sensor bar to sit on top of it. Also not happy about Microsoft making the hard drives incompatible between units, but I knew that going in; luckily I can get an OEM drive online for under $60.
Currently downloading my 2nd update while trying to make my way through the setup process.
alright, I admit the Kinect is pretty impressive with its depth precision and ability to track the active player. This is one example of playing in my living room.
and the game played without issue. Yeah, it uses a shitty cellphone quality camera, but its still able to understand whats important. I was playing with Scarlett running all over the place, climbing on the couch, even dancing along, and it never registered her as an invalid player.
Only issue I have is with the shitty as shit camera quality. It makes me feel like they want a Kinect 2.0 sometime down the line. The quality really messes with your ability to use the device during menus, because it can't track the finer details.
What would make sense:
Placing your hand over an option and closing, or opening it, to select it.
What you have to do instead:
Hover your hand over the option for several seconds without moving.

I haven't played Civ5 yet. I wanted to play Civ5, but I don't, so much, any more.
http://www.garath.net/Sullla/Civ5/whatwentwrong.html :
Sigh. After 150 turns of peace, suddenly all my allies hated me. I think they got mad because I razed some Arab cities, but who really knows? The game sure wasn't about to tell me. It felt like a relationship with an overbearing girlfriend: "Well, if you don't know what you did wrong, I'm certainly not telling you!"
The latest patch has added a little bit of transparency to the process, while keeping the same underlying system in place. (Note that this is essentially an abandonment of the original design goal of "surprising" the player.) As I said above, the problem is that this transparency reveals the AIs to be totally nuts. They get mad at you for expanding. They get mad at you for settling near them (or not - sometimes they say this when you aren't even remotely close!) They get mad at you when THEY settle next to YOU. They get mad at you for building wonders. They get mad at you for having a large army. They get mad at you for having a small army. They get mad at you for going to war. They get mad at you for not going to war to support them, and then they get mad at you again when you do join them in their conflicts. They get mad at you for trying to win the game, and in fact the AI is specifically programmed to dogpile the human player when he/she gets close to victory, in the old Civ1/2 bullshit manner. Wow. With friends like that, who needs enemies?
Same deal in Civ2 I think. (*FACEPALM*)The only exchange of any consequence that remains takes the form of resource trading, and indeed selling resources to the AIs for gold has become a staple of high-level Civ5 play. This has created a further problem, however, as Civ5 foolishly returns to the Civ3 model of "anything purchasable with gold per turn income", allowing players to trade 30 turns of a luxury resource for a lump sum payment and then immediately declare war to break the deal. Or you can trade 50 gold/turn for 1000 lump sum gold, and declare war to avoid paying anything. You can even sell cities to the AI for thousands of gold, then use the gold to cash-rush an instant army and retake the same cities back once more. Exploitative, much?
*FACEDESK, REPEATEDLY*When it did release to the public, Civ5's MP turned out to be worse than anyone imagined. Not only is the game almost completely unplayable online, with drops and connection issues limiting games to a maximum of four total players, Civ5 lacks an incredible array of basic MP features. Not only are these features dropped from their previous inclusion in Civ4, it's simply hard to imagine how a mainstream game released in 2010 could possibly be so crippled for online play. Let me run through a quick list of these issues:
*FACEPIANO*- Note that there is no eight-second delay in Civ5 either, and unit movement rates are much increased, so be prepared for all sorts of insane double-moves of units. Have fun dealing with that Companion Cavalry that moved ten tiles across the turn split window before you could react. This is a major reason why "battles" in Civ5 turn into crazed click-fests to see who can move first. (More on this below.)
I think a large part of these failures may have to do with not recruiting sufficient beta testers... I actually I had a chance to beta-test this game. If I had a better computer and more time, I would have, and maybe would have pointed out some of these flaws.
Oh well! Maybe it'll be fixed in a few years.

New Sims 3 stuff pack, but I hardly played with it at all today.
Bought the kids Wii Sports Resort, and wound up absolutely loving the table tennis game on it. Played a few of the others, too, it's fun. So once they're at school tomorrow I'll spend some quality time simming, I guess.
