That is a great story. Not in any way clear to me why they're getting any sort of hearing in court but I assume it will get zero traction on Monday.

Yeah, there has to be some underlying offense committed for an injunction and there's no word of what that is. The company's argument is basically that their competitor pays better.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious the old employer had their chance to make a counteroffer and passed. I'm also not sure how they can force people to work for them given that it's at will... At best they could get some sort of injunction against them working at the new employer, but I fail to see how they'd be successful with this strategy.

That is frequently a role judges find themselves in.

You'll note that this isn't covering all the people leaving and moving, just seven of them. So yeah, there was some issue (maybe not enough of one to win a case but enough provide a legitimate cause of action and to hold off a summary judgement) which applied to those seven. I don't see the actual filed complaint so no idea what it might be. It could be that he's incompetent or corrupt. It could be that the plaintiff has a very clever lawyer. And it could just be that whatever the cause of action is presents an issue so murky that the judge reasonably doesn't want to get anywhere near actually having to come up with a good ruling on it.

Its just a really shitty judge, to the point that he has been recorded verbally attacking kids for ending up in his court for truancy, he doesn't report possible conflict of interests and once jailed someone for almost 2 months for rolling their eyes.

Basically Thedacare is very poorly managed (this was brought up in the court filings as part of the reason for why these people applied to the open positions at the other hospital) and couldn't figure out how to replace their workers, despite having more than a month's notice. They think that because they are a trauma center they can bully who can work where to avert a "health threat to the region"
