I haven't "proposed" anything. I've only said that ISIS wants a New World Order, where fighting on behalf of "Religion" is duplicitous and hypocritical.

I'm waiting for the millions of peaceful Muslims ready to take back their religion. But I don't expect them to accrue weapons in the process.

I wonder if the disarray in Baghdad is bad enough to let ISIS waltz in...

Formeral-Qaeda Commander: ISIS Works for the CIA

Jihadist groups part of "Clean Break" plan tobalkanize Middle East
    by Kurt Nimmo | Infowars.com | July 12, 2014

Nabil Na’eem, the founder of the Islamic Democratic JihadParty and former top al-Qaeda commander, told the Beirut-based pan-Arab TVstation al-Maydeen all current al-Qaeda affiliates, including ISIS, work forthe CIA.

“What I want to tell you, the efforts of all Islamiccountries, Sunni and Shiites, must combine to eradicate these groups becausethese groups are the claws of colonialism in the region,” Na’eem said.

Na’eem said ISIS, now IS or the Islamic State, is part of theneocon and Israeli “Clean Break” plan to balkanize the Arab and Muslim MiddleEast.

The conflict is designed to be “an endless war” that“exhausts Saudi resources and its monies, and it exhausts Iran resources andits monies, like what they did during the days of Saddam in Iraq (with Iran).”
The conflict will spread to Saudi Arabia and the other Gulfmonarchies by 2016, Na’eem predicted.
In 2013, after al-Nusra in Syria pledged allegiance toal-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, Na’eem said the group works for the CIA.

“I personally believe that the leader of the Nusra Army(Mohammed al-Jawlani), who declared his support for Ayman Al Zawahiri, is a CIAoperative,” he said.

He identified al-Zawahiri as a double agent who takes “ordersfrom the Americans.”

Most of their weapons are looted Iraqi army equipment. They also have looted Syrian army equipment. And I'm sure they buy some from nefarious sources thanks to the largess of rich individuals in the Gulf. But it's rather hard to smuggle in a bunch of tanks.

I don't think they could hold the north and try for Baghdad.

I thought the Shi'ites were on the verge of their own civil war. Looks like that prospect has been avoided, at least for now.

Incidentally, they seem to be doing a good job of holding the north while starting a new offensive in Syria. Other rebels in Syria are defecting to ISIS in large numbers, either because they don't want to be killed or because they view it as the group that's most likely to overthrow Assad. And the more success ISIS obtains anywhere, the most followers it will attract.

That is what I'd like to see reported. Very dangerous mission indeed but necessary.

I mainly read the NY Times, and most stories about ISIS mention it...If you mean TV news, there's only so much you can cover in the 10 seconds allotted to international news.

They'll kill each other off in the end. Your presence won't be necessary.

Pashmerga and the U.S. Army are kindred spirits though

I think the peshmerga just good spooked. Morale is up now and they should at least be able to hold their own territory.

The ISISIslamic Terrorists are Supported by the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia

    Who’s Really Pulling the Strings?

The Times of Israel reported Wednesday:

A Free Syrian Army commander, arrested last month by theIslamist militia Al-Nusra Front, told his captors he collaborated with Israelin return for medical and military support, in a video released this week.Readmore: Syrian rebel commander says he collaborated with Israel.

In a video uploaded to YouTube Monday … Sharif As-Safouri,the commander of the Free Syrian Army’s Al-Haramein Battalion, admitted tohaving entered Israel five times to meet with Israeli officers who laterprovided him with Soviet anti-tank weapons and light arms. Safouri was abductedby the al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Nusra Front in the Quneitra area, near theIsraeli border, on July 22.
    …….
In any event – whether or not it’s true of ISIS – it’swell-documented that the U.S., Saudis and Israelis have been backing theworld’s most dangerous and radical Muslim terrorists for decades. And see this.

And anyone who looks at the battle against ISIS as areligious war is being played.

The Free Syrian Army is the most moderate faction in the Syrian civil war. F for effort.

I thought that was the People's Front of Syria, or was it the Syrian People's Front?

I almost want to see someone post youtube videos of the fighting there with the theme as the soundtrack
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."

I had almost missed the fact that in Britain muslims who support IS or its ideolog are considered heretics now.

I only saw short clips of the Sotloff decapitation, but I really had a WTF moment; the man sounded like a hard core ISIS apologist blaming everything on Obama.
    Congratulations America

Is an "Islamic State" a world-wide threat, or not? Let's stop dancing around.

It is not, not all armed forces throw down their guns and run at the sight of a black flag with white print.
    Congratulations America

Are we using "Islamic State" differently?

I don't think so, and I do think the Islamic State is a regional problem at the most. You have noticed that they're careful not to provoke Israel?
    Congratulations America

Dunno about you, but beheading a country's citizen sure seems like a provocation, no?

I don't think ISIS is an existential threat to the West, but they're definitely a long term threat of international terrorism.

Sotloff was Jewish and a dual US-Israeli citizen.

Something we learned after the video of his killing was leaked. And looking the other reporting about that fact there are ample indications that IS wasn't aware of the fact either. So murdering him can hardly be presented now as a direct provocation of Israel.
    Congratulations America
