I used to watch Star Trek as a kid, but never regularly. I vaguely remember enjoying it. I'm enjoying it so much more now, as an adult

The Weather Channel! It's reality TV that trumps reality TV.
"Storm Chasers" are the modern model of extreme thrill seekers. Those people take more risks than sky-divers or base-jumpers. They (at least) provide additional data to meteorologists and weather analysts. But their exploits are still on the crazy side. They drive TOWARD tornadic conditions, assuming their vehicles are beefed up enough to be protective "shelters".
BBC has some pretty damn good TV. Our PBS Masterpiece airs fantastic British shows. The Mystery series, Sherlock, an Inspector/Detective series I find late at night (but can't recall the title), and of course Downton Abbey.
I was recently drawn into "Silk", fascinated by the British stuff of Barrister wigs and capes, witness stands, suspect booths, Solicitors and Pupils. It took a few episodes to adjust to rapid British-English speech patterns, and not get hung up on procedural differences, but is has the same affinity of Law and Order.
I just watched the first episode of the new Homeland season; I really liked it.

I started just the other day!!! Had to pause because week on call means no watching with missus but it looks hella sweet, one of the more promising scifi shows on netflix

its on Netflix? sweet. I passed up on the season box set a few months ago, because of a lack of time.
I finished the first season of under the dome. Its cool to see it got renewed for a 2nd season, but that also means they gave no closure for the 1st season, that's annoying.
Sleepy Hollow looks interesting, even if it screams "everything will hit the fan before the world is saved at the last second"

How is Under the Dome, btw? It seemed like it could be interesting, even if I already saw that Outer Limits episode. I've been hearing terrible, terrible things about it, though.
I happened upon the strangest TV last weekend, on TCM network. It was an episode from a failed 1960 pilot program called "Rosie". Never heard of it...but it reminded me of today's "Wilfred", without the insight or witty humor. It was really creepy. The narrator was the dog, dressed up like a moving furry cocktail table.
The first handful of episodes where good, but once they announced that it was being extended to 2 seasons the show just stopped making sense or progressing. I don't know if they had to reshot certain parts/episodes, but there was zero closure to the story, and several of the actions taken by the characters went completely against common sense and/or what you expected from them.

I heard from my family that every character in the show including the government didn't try sign language, visual morse code, or visual machine code (think like a TV remote) to communicate through the dome when I asked if they did. Oh but they did nuke it, not considering what would happen if nuking it actually worked (radiation doesn't magically disappear).

It's ok-ish, but not exactly must-see television.

They didn't nuke it afaik. Other than that those 'in your family' who have that comment must love Tibetan Tales which always consist of an entirely logical operating protagonist doing all the right things instinctively in order to bring him in a straight line to the desired goal.
People who like things a bit more entertaining than that have to depend on people making appearantly silly mistakes in order to raise a bit of tension. And really, what would communication with the outside world change now that there is no certainty that the dome will ever disappear again? With the dome in place the town might as well be on Jupiter.

Don't get me wrong, I fully intend on watching SHIELD. I'm just going to have to flip to CBS on commercials and hope I don't miss too much plot regarding how they're going to write Ziva off.
Saw Shield (fuck you if you think I'm typing it out as an acronym each time). I liked it. It could turn into a very entertaining show. For the pilot, I thought they were trying a bit too hard at times though. It's also not quite as down-to-earth as I was expecting it to be, opting more for OTT. They had to be blowing through quite a bit of budget for this though, and I'd be surprised if they can sustain these kinds of effects week-to-week.
Hmmh. Almost Human.
Am getting a Bladerunner vibe. For the score they seem to have taken some cues from Deus Ex HR.
Karl Urban is not bad either.
I don't quite understand yet why they're using Androids, though, if those have none of the supposed advantages save a data up-/downlink.
