And chrome for mobile updated twice recently, first they removed swiping from tab to tab (which was very handy) and now I can only use this forum's mobile theme properly in landscape Any tips for good mobile browsers for android?

No matter how hideously drunk I've gotten, this has never happened to me.

I have a drunk auto-pilot, which, without fail, takes me outside the bar, hails a cab, gets me home, undressed, and into bed, all without any conscious input from me whatsoever ...

Amazon increased its free shipping minimum from $25 to $35

looks like I'll be picking up some Prime within the next month.

I noticed it's Psilon's birthday. I recall him as serious and thoughtful, sometimes joking and playful. I liked his username, that made him phonetically a Cylon....but he hasn't posted in ages, so my memory may be off.

To buy the chromecast ? Wouldn't you think Google itself is behind the embargo? It wouldn't surprise me if they'd introduce it overhere in some weeks at double the price. Especially since apple TV hasn't shown to be a winner so far on this side due to the same type of regional marketing issues. Apple TV overhere (unless you are willing to jump through some crazy hoops) will not give you access to anything besides netflix. iTunes won't sell or rent movies or TV shows to people from outside the area of their 'local store'. Even downloading the free Hulu app is off-limits.

Quite by accident I noticed that amazon has a kindle edition of a book on sale in the US for 99c. If I try to sell this edition I am re-routed and am told I can buy it for $3,69.

I know my way around this kind to trickery with software etc, but with hardware, it's not so easily solved.
    Congratulations America

and yeah, over here at least, you can buy hardware like the chromecast through google play https://play.google.com/store/device...romecast&hl=en

Overhere I just get a notice telling me that it's not available yet where I live. Guess that means they'll have to develop some software to install in order to severely limit my access to the US market.
    Congratulations America

A local boro has instituted a crazy "Halloween policy" for trick-or-treaters: either wear a wrist-band proving township residence (provided by boro Police) or be prepared to be cited for a misdemeanor trespassing offense. Seriously.

Following this up. Several charges I didn't make started showing up on the card I used with Adobe over the weekend. Got my bank to cancel the card, however since its a business debit card they can't just reverse the charges, and I have to file paperwork and make a claim. If the final amount that goes through is over $500, I have to file and make a claim with the police. Currently they are holding about $970, so its going to be very likely. The main problem is that most of the charges were through what looks like boutique clothing shops in the UK, so I'm not exactly certain how much local or state police can get involved in this. Adobe has offered 1 year of free credit monitoring through Experian, and I'm wondering if I should use it. What I'm hoping for is that what I and the bank are seeing is the initial check for fund availability that some online sites do when processing an order, since its only showing up as a reduction in available funds and not successful charges, and that when they go to finalize payment at shipping, they will no longer be able to charge my card since its now canceled. This is unlikely, but its what I'm hoping as it will make resolving this easier.

News today is reporting that someone elsewhere in the country working for the company I used to work for was murdered last Sunday while doing his job. Found stabbed to death in his car by his colleagues. Horrific

    Yes, read about it.

It was his very last delivery for the company before taking up a new IT Consultancy job. He'd recently gotten an IT degree.

    Murder seems motiveless.

    Awful.

In a patent war its always the consumer who loses, but maybe with the largest companies finally going nuclear, there will be a bigger push for reform.

Rebooted my laptop earlier and it alerted me about my hard drive beginning to fail. Looks like it's started reallocating sectors. Anyone have any suggestions for a replacement? I currently have a Toshiba SATA/300 750GB 5400RPM in it.

Depends on how much space you need. An SSD (e.g. Samsung) would yield quite some advantages, however they become prohibitively expensive beyond the 256GiB mark (128 is the usual amount). Beyond that, I'm not sure. Western Digital Green shouldn't be too wrong a choice

Amazon should be putting several of their Kingston SSDs on their pre-black friday sale in the next couple of days.

Which reminds me: Everyone follow the 3-2-1-rule for important documents? 3 copies in 2 different formats (e.g. USB stick and hard disc) with 1 copy at another location?

I think if I had another external drive to store much of the data I have currently on here (221GB of 362GB used resides in my Documents, Music, Photos and Movies folders), I'd probably be able to manage a much smaller capacity SSD. Unfortunately, as my budget is currently very limited due to an impending move, I don't know if I'll be able to swing any of the current $150+ prices I've seen on the sub 300GB SSD I've seen listed so far.

Edit: Oh, and this is what my drive is showing up for the error alert in Defraggler.

Random, but I was 600+ miles south of anyone directly affected by that.

Packing. I'm still at a loss for how I'm going to squeeze all of these books, electronics, my cat and myself all into my car and move 2,300 miles.

And expecting to be without laptop usage for another week because the sectors dropped from 3 to 1 on that current value for the hard drive with a raw value of slightly over 16,200. I turned it off when I realized it's going up that frequently. Just hoping I can get the opportunity to clone the drive before it dies. Thankful that I had the forethought to order an eSATA enclosure to make this job faster.

WTF is wrong with people? You have kids and things change. Fing grow up.
