There's a fertilizer plant near where I live I think, but about twenty years ago all houses nearby were emptied and demolished, I think near all chemical plants (and apparently no Dutch plants even make ammonia nitrate).

Doesn't matter if the sockets are different, no? Streetlight design is very distinctive across different municipalities in the US - where I grew up, the city all had yellow-orange lights, while the suburbs mostly had white lights. They were different underlying technologies (the orange is a high pressure sodium lamp; the white is normally a metal halide), and I wouldn't be surprised if the actual bulbs/whatever weren't compatible.
Short of replacing all of the lampposts in E. Berlin, it's probably not easy to standardize. That being said, sometimes it is worth it to do so - especially if one type of light is significantly less efficient or produces more light pollution.
Heh, didn't think of the fact that fixtures would be different, thanks. Of course they could produce the same lamps with different fixtures, but that's probably too much effort unless there's a good reason to change it.
Looked up if they are using LED for street lights here (and it's being piloted), and apparently we're moving away from orange lights because colour recognition isn't as good in orange light, which affects social safety.

*nods* They're doing the same in Chicago - the metal halide lamps are much more expensive, but you can use less energy since the light is perceived to be brighter. I believe LEDs are also being piloted in a few places (but not Chicago). The orange lights are also hella ugly, even if they are cheap.
There's also new designs for the head of the streetlight to increase the amount of light that is sent downwards and reduce the amount that escapes unnecessarily upwards. It's good from both an energy perspective as well as a pollution perspective.
Indeedy, certain small details like that in East Berlin are still different (some traffic lights and even some signage). I never noticed the street lights, but it makes sense.
It's actually the old fashioned gas lamps in West Berlin that will be replaces by LEDs first. The east already uses electrical lamps.

Sandy Hook School was selected particularly for its location. It was in adead end of a road. No others would pass by and witness what have happened. Itlargely protect the perpetrators to commit a crime without being discovered andthen left. The time was at 9:40, parents left already and they couldn’t bewitness too. The victims were first grade pupils, they were too young to describea scene even if they were survived the massacre. Yet, the murderers tried tokill everyone.
