    Said nobody ever.

Exposing them to a crippling illness = parenting choice. Kidnapping them = the horror.

So parents who do not vaccinate their children from Anthrax are just as bad as parents who have a friend physically, verbally, and sexually abuse their child for being too nice? And you teach college students for a living? Is it just me that thinks these comparisons are absolutely absurd?

I'm sorry, I thought we were talking about crippling diseases and the well being of children.

And the odds of getting the two are the same, right? Especially if no one vaccinates? Moderation is not a part of your vocabulary, is it? One either bans everything or bans nothing.

The odds of your child being seriously injured or killed in a bicycle accident are far higher than either. Do you think getting your kid a bicycle is the same as kidnapping them, holding them at gunpoint, binding them with plastic bags, and sexually assaulting them in a basement? You, talking about moderation? You are a caricature, a joke.

Did I miss the memo explaining why our nation feels the need to be depressed? First the superbowl commercials and now the grammys. Jeez

First half of the superbowl was stuffed full of depressing ads. highlight being this one:

than the grammys come around and it felt like the theme of the entire show was to be depressing and slow. They even got katy perry to perform while looking mostly normal.

The monarch of The Netherlands has no official residence. Where-ever the monarch lives is his or her official residence. That basically means that whenever we have a succession a palace will turn into a normal residence first and then when the inhabitants die basically becomes a redundant building, owned by the state. 11 years ago Prince Bernhard died, and I just noticed that after 11 years the state has still not been able to find a new function for the Soestdijk palace where he and Queen Juliana lived. I mean 11 years, they should have been able to make up their mind in that much time shouldn't they ?
    Congratulations America

Don't get why these people aren't prosecuted en masse for fraud.

    Freedom of religion.

On a more serious note: It's a multi-million dollar business. I'm always amused with proponents of Homeopathy disparaging "Big Pharma who only want to make money" who then promptly overlook that the net gain for their sugar pills must be absolutely overwhelming.

No need for medical trials, and the markup is huge.

Insider trading is an even bigger business. Doesn't mean it's not prosecuted.

IIRC over here a few were prosecuted after their actions (or well, inactions) lead to the death of their patient (turns out you can't cure cancer with aspirins and magnets). But while the ones that had medical licenses had theirs suspended (ranging from a year to for life), and the judge was definitely very critical of everybody involved, they only got suspended sentences. And the medium involved was acquitted altogether since she was not, and did not claim to be, a doctor. Ultimately it came down to the fact the patient always had a choice, which means the doctors involved get suspended not for her death, but for not giving her adequate care (i.e. continuing a treatment when it was clear she needed regular medicine) and full and correct information, and not insisting enough that she should see a regular doctor..
